Signature, a 100-year history

In Signature Group there are leading businesses in their sector of activity with a track record of success in the field of roadway equipment: Neuhaus, a vertical sign company created in 1929; SAR, a horizontal sign company launched in 1962; and TSS, created in 1968 specialized in restraint devices. Progressively, new specialized subsidiaries joined Signature Group, resulting in a company that is the European leader in road, motorway and urban equipment. In 2007, Signature Group became a subsidiary of Eurovia, a major global player in road and rail infrastructure construction, upkeep, and maintenance.

In 2012, Signature Group had 22 subsidiaries located in France and Europe. On the strength of their combined knowledge and skills, Signature Group is able to provide a full range of services and personalized services.


1912

Kieffer & Hamaide is established and specializes in manufacturing decorative paint products.

1929

Jean Neuhaus is founded, specialized in advertising panels in enamelled iron.

1934

Development of the Vitrarmé panel, which combines concrete and enamel.

1938

Production of the first sign panels in enamelled iron featuring a reflector.

1952

Jean Neuhaus S.A. sets up shop in Béhobie in France’s Basque region. Workforce: 25 people –Production capacity: 15,000 panels a year.

1953

Neuhaus develops the first line of urban furniture for the Champs-Élysées.

1954

Neuhaus develops the first protective bollard for the city of Paris.

1955

Invention and manufacturing patent for embosses enamelled  signss.

1964

Kieffer & Hamaide creates a subsidiary, SAR, dedicated to the application of road-marking paint.

1965

Invention of the first plastic sign: Plasticacier.

1968

TSS is established; the company manufactures restraint systems and road-marking products for major urban works.

1975

Acquisition of Luchard, a company specializing in highway structures.

1979

TSS implements the first concrete restraint system in Europe.

1981

SAR develops SINOLACK NORMANDIE, a road marking product sold around the world, with total production of more than 100,000 tonnes.

TSS implements machine-assisted transport of concrete blocks.

1986

Signature implements the first LED variable message panels in Europe on the access roads for the Île de Ré bridge.

1988

SAR creates a subsidiary – Euroliners – specializing in producing road-marking machines.

Acquisition of Sodilor, a manufacturer of road-sign products and urban furniture in recycled plastic.

Acquisition of SEGOR and GERECKE AND LAUER, which will become Signature Deutschland.

 

1995

Signature creates a subsidiary – Signature Traffic Systems – specializing in traffic-management activities, which becomes a leader in Europe in the development of variable message panels and weather and traffic data collection.

1996

Signature builds a new production plant for vertical signs at Urrugne (in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques region).

1999

Farcor joins Signature Group.

2001

SAR establishes closer ties with its international subsidiaries: Vaindipaint (Belgium), Vanden Weghe (Belgium), and VDZ SRO (Czech Republic).

2004

Signature Group acquires road-painting operations from the Dutch company, AKZO NOBEL.

2006

Acquisition of SBR, specializing in the production and rental of concrete blocks for worksite safety.
